It feels a bit like the final days at Great Woods every fall. We know the end is near. We have made so many friends here we can't go anywhere in town without seeing someone we know.
Before I forget, I have a couple of updates regarding previous blogs. If I've already told you, oh well.
First of all the Hotel California in Todos Santos has nothing to do with The Eagles song. They would like you to believe it does because it probably helps business. Sure sucked us in. It is a cool hotel but no relation to The Eagles.
Now for an update on Pink's mom/mother-in-law. She is actually her mother-in-law. She is the mother of Carey Hart, a professional motocross racer. She owns a beach bar here. For more info you'll have to ask me in person. (I hope you're taking notes)
We see a lot of dune buggies here.
We get a wake-up call every morning from nearby roosters. One morning they were joined by an unhappy cow. Not that I know cows, but it seemed to be mooing unhappily and loudly. I have no idea where it was but we also heard it the next morning. We really don't mind being woke up to this view.
One morning when I took Cleo down to the beach for her morning walk I was suprised to see several teeny, tiny turtles in the sand trying to make their way to the water. I was afraid that Cleo might try to chomp them so I took her away from them. I told some people that I meet on the beach every morning and they scooped them up and put them in the water. There is a turtle release area way down the beach but they were far from it.
Cleo chilling on the beach.
Every Friday night is bocce night in our campground. We all take appetizers and after snacks and drinks, the game is on.Some friends that we met at open mic invited us over for a barbecue. The food was amazing. Chicken and shrimp cooked over a fire along with many other dishes. Their place has a great courtyard with an awesome view.
Before we picked them up at the airport we went to our favorite restaurant in Cabo, J.P.'s.
This is Shell and I drinking rum and "not" egg nog.
They sell something here called Rom Pope which looks like eggnog and has some alcohol in it, not sure what. We add rum to it.
We took a long walk to Playa Norte (north beach).
The view from their balcony while we have a pre-dinner beer & shot of tequila.Snuggle time.
We rented quads and rode up the arroyo (stream) to find the waterfall. It is a mostly dry stream.
Ren tried the "swing". Yes he is wearing his socks. He didn't want to get his shoes wet. :o)
One day we wandered the town checking out the shops. This mural is in front of what used to be a chocolate shop. I was excited to take my sister there because their chocolate was so good but they are now closed. Maybe they were just open for Christmas.
When Cleo's "sister" Shelley was here, she really wanted to put a sombrero on Cleo. Cleo's "auntie" Shelley had the same idea.
There was a huge wind surfing/kite boarding event on the beach for a few days.We took in the last day of the competition.
Their final Los Barriles sunrise before heading home.
We are leaving Los Barriles tomorrow and going to La Paz where we will meet the Baja Amigo's caravan.
We will travel north through the Baja with them. I think we will arrive in California on February 4th.
