Many footprints in the sand.
March 4: We picked up Manitoba friends John & Wendy, in Guayabitos and spent the afternoon on our beach.
You can't have a luau without Hawaiian hula dancers.
On Tuesday, March 8th we had a typical Manitoba storm overnight. Thunder, lightening, high winds and lots of rain. During the night people were outside fighting to close their awnings. We slept through most of it. We had put our awning in and our lawn chairs away before bed. Some people lost screen tents and everything was wet the next morning.
We were supposed to have a potluck dinner but due to the cold and a bit more rain it was postponed to tomorrow. Once again, we were pretty lucky with our weather. In the city of Tequila, they got snow!
Tequila Shortage Concerns As Snow Hits Jalisco
Yesterday, March 9th, snow fell in Jalisco, Mexico for the first time since 1997 leading to fears of an agave production shortfall.
The message was simple, but a little concerning, buy up tequila now as in 3 to 5 years there will be a worldwide tequila shortage.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
We decided that we would stay in Lode for one extra day and skip Chacala and go straight to Stone Island. That evening we had a farewell potluck dinner.
We were glad we had decided not to go to Chacala because we saw about 10 rigs turn off the highway heading in there. It's not a very big campground.
Somewhere around here we had to stop for a fruit inspection. They took a grapefruit and an orange but left all the limes. When I opened the trailer door for the inspector I got quite a shock. Besides footstools and the end table being knocked over, two cupboard doors had opened and there was stuff everywhere! I'm pretty sure the fruit inspector was used to seeing that, considering we had been bouncing down the highway for many miles. Dave had made a comment that everything in our trailer was getting blended. He wasn't kidding. We didn't want to hold up the fruit inspection site so continued to drive until we could find a place to safely pull over. By this time a Coke had exploded in and out of the cupboard. Oh boy. What a mess to clean up.
About this time I saw a notation on one of my maps for Bum Rock so I started taking pictures of every rock I saw. Not sure which one was the bum.
We have arrived and Cleo has found herself a nice shady spot. I just hope a coconut doesn't fall on her head.
Most of the roads are sand.
Needless to say, she had the time of her life. The water is shallow, the beach is long. I don't think she's ever had that much fun playing in the water. She managed to avoid us for about two hours.
In the afternoon we decided to take a drive around town since it was a lot bigger than we thought and we wanted to find out where some things were.
These people are on a tour. They end up at a restaurant near our RV park to eat, drink and go for banana boat rides.
We have seen a couple of posts regarding Lo de Marcos now having trained lifeguards.
This is the view from our rear window.Cleo is still recovering.
Jody & Brent have arrived from Lo de Marcos. Their dog Zela is just chilling. This was a really good band. Dave tried to go up on stage with them to play his harmonica. They kicked him off. It was pretty funny.
I have more to share about Stone Island but it will have to wait for the next blog. We are leaving this morning and going to Durango.
