A New Year - 2016

January 1st was another busy day on the beach.  It's amazing how much stuff people carry with them.

We were invited to a musical evening at Lorena & Steve's house.
The food, company and music were excellent!
Jan. 2:
We went to a great restaurant for breakfast and then Shell & Rene happily checked out of their hotel.  Unfortunately they were staying there at the busiest time of the year and the Mexicans like to party late and party loud.  They didn't get much sleep.
They then checked into Casa Blanca, the house on the hill.
This is the first part of the driveway.  It turns right at the top.
This the second part.
There is a slight shortcut to the pool.
There is a great view from the house to our RV park and the park next door to ours.
Cows were grazing in the yard.

We enjoyed the afternoon and evening at the house.
Jan. 3:
We went to the market in La Cruz, then did some grocery shopping at Mega.
We then went back to Casa Blanca for some pool time.  This is the life!
We invited a couple from the RV park to join us.

Cleo had fun.
There was also a great view out the back from the kitchen window.
Another great day.
We stopped for a drink one day and this is the beer Dave got.  It's really tiny.
On one of our beach days Shell & Ren walked to the end of the point.
Some silliness at the Casa.

One morning we went for a long beach & jungle walk.

Jan. 5:
Our sleepy little town was back to normal.  All the Christmas vacationers had gone home.
We invited some friends up to the Casa for snacks and swimming.  Everyone commented on the hike up the hill.

The long walk down.
The end of another beautiful day.
Jan. 6:
Beautiful morning view from the Casa.
Another great pool day.
An interesting picture of some "bandidos" on the wall in the Casa.
This scorpion was in the shower at the Casa.
Hello cows.

We went to Wednesday night music in the square.

The cows came back.  I guess they really like the grass in the yard of the Casa.

The evening of Jan. 7th the Perez Brothers were playing at the RV park next door.  They played some good dancing music including the Macarena.  It was fun.
Jan. 8:
We went for a walk to town and checked out this colourful place.  We plan to go to their rooftop patio for a beer one day.
That evening we had reservations at a fancy restaurant in Los Ayala which is up on a hill and has a beautiful view of the beach at Rincon Guayabitos.  When we arrived there was a 7 piece band playing so loud that we had to scream at the waiter.  We asked how long the band would be there.  He wasn't sure because there was a large group of Mexicans celebrating a birthday and they had hired the band. We left and found a restaurant in Rincon Guayabitos that turned out to be excellent.

Jan. 9:
We went up to a rooftop patio to see the view of Lo de Marcos.

On the way to take Shell & Ren to the airport we stopped in San Pancho for lunch.
Cleo does not look impressed.  We had come to the end of another great family visit.
Jan. 10:

That evening Dave and I went to San Pancho to see one of our neighbours, Tony, perform with a female blues singer from St. Louis.  San Pancho is a very cool town.

We plan to go back and explore San Pancho some more one day.

The music couldn't have been better.  We were thrilled to have an evening of blues.
This little girl has got the music in her.  She just had to dance.

Jan. 11:
Open mic was held at the RV park two doors down.

The Lo de Marcos Boom Beach Fest has been taking place Jan. 16 & 17.  We have been spending a lot of time at the beach watching the action.  The stand up paddle board competitions happened right in front of our RV park.  That is also where they were giving away the free drinks.

We walked the beach to go to the Saturday market in town.  We saw lots of Pelicans.

After buying some fresh baking and vegetables, we went back to the beach.

Not sure what to say about this picture.
A drone.
A little surfer.

A slip 'n slide for the kids.

A very busy beach.
We got to see the turtle release today.

Poor little things.  Every time they were getting somewhere a wave would push them back again.
Eventually, they all made it into the water.  Their chance of survival is very slim though.

Well, I am up to date.  If you're wondering what took me so long...........I'm really busy!  Yoga once a week, exercise class twice a week, Spanish class twice a week, and then there's walking, going to the beach, happy hour, music nights, everyday chores, etc.  Whew!
