Exploring

Feb. 5:  We took a drive to Chacala, which is almost an hour north of us.

It was a nice drive in off the highway.

We really liked the beach.

When we leave Lo de Marcos, we just might go and camp here.

On the way back we drove through the town of Monteon but there wasn't much to see.
Feb. 6:  We went to the square in town to the Amigos de Lo de Marcos (friends of Lo de Marcos) fundraising event.
Besides having clothing for sale, there were raffles and auctions, and food & beverages for sale.

This little girl was adorable.
Some arrived on horseback.
After the event we went to a rooftop patio for a beer.

I couldn't talk Dave into laying in the hammock.

A better view of the sunset than we get from our park.
We met this little cutie named Chiquita.
I have been spending some time talking to some of our fellow RV'ers because we are planning to take a different route out of Mexico than the one we took in.  It seems too early to be planning our departure but everyone is leaving at different times and I wanted to get as much info as possible.
This was an open mic night at El Pequeno, just down the beach.
Feb. 9:  We headed south to explore a few towns.  Our first stop was Bucerias where we went straight to the beach.
We really liked it there.  Unfortunately we only took a couple of pictures.  We almost went there with friends a couple of winters ago and I think it would have been a great choice Judy & Gloria.
We then drove to Punta de Mita.

Looks like a good spot for a cold drink.

See the tall skinny bird?
The Main Street of Punta de Mita.
Just after we left Punta de Mita we met friends from the RV park who had just finished golfing.  We stopped and had a beer with them.
Now we are going to Sayulita.

It is a very busy place.  It's a challenge to find a parking spot.
I love the decorations.

There are lots of places to spend money.
We headed for the beach, as usual.
It's too busy for our liking.

We then went to San Pancho, where I didn't take any pictures.  Sorry.  It's a very artsy little town that has a lot of live music events and some great restaurants.
We returned to Lo de Marcos for dinner.  This little cutie hanging out in the restaurant knows just how to beg for handouts.

From the restaurant we could see a Zumba class taking place in the square.
When we got back to the RV park, Juan Jose, the owner told us to come try out the hot tub.
That was a full day.
Feb. 10:  The ocean has been wild and rough for a long time.  There have been some drownings and many rescues.  Today, we finally got our calm ocean back. Many people, including us, went swimming.
Feb. 11:  Dave and a couple of other guys took a road trip to Tequila.  I'm sure you can guess what they went for.  Dave also bought himself a new hat.
Feb. 12:  Another great beach day.

Cleo's new friend, Chiquita, isn't afraid of her anymore.
Now she wants to play.

Sorry for posting so many.  I just couldn't resist.
Friday night we had a birthday dessert party at the park.
Yesterday we walked to the market in town to buy bread.
Here's the new hat.  If I walked close enough I got shade too.

In the afternoon we went to the beach.  At about 3:30 one of the fishermen asked for some help to move his boat up onto the beach.

He obviously knows something that we don't, because at 5:00 he was asking for help again to move it higher.

Many hands make light work.
This morning we walked down the beach to town to go for breakfast.

We pass by this very friendly man in town all the time.  He has the most colourful "pet" rooster on a leash.
It's time to go to the beach.  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
