A Very Different Christmas

The newly formed "Pink Flamenco's" practiced at our place for their upcoming performance on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve we walked to the resort next door for a beach bonfire.  It was a great night, the weather was perfect, there were about 100 people of all ages that came along to enjoy the entertainment.
The band did a great job and were joined by other musicians that showed up after awhile.
This is Dave and Wolf, an awesome flamenco guitar player.
Cleo also enjoyed herself.  She is always the hit of every gathering.
Christmas morning we went for a walk on the beach.
In the afternoon we went back to the beach and went for a swim.  No jellyfish this time.
Santa and his helpers came to see the kids.
Shortly after this we saw some dolphins playing out in the water but weren't able to get a good picture.
We have seen this thing flying through the air several times.
We went for Christmas dinner to Tio Pablo's with our neighbours. This is cutie Reece who likes to eat limes.  He lets us know when Cleo goes into his yard by yelling "DOG"!  If Cleo leaves our yard she always goes to Reece's yard because she likes to explore the bushes there.  When we hear Reece yelling dog we know that she has left our yard.
I know it wasn't a Chinese Restaurant but it sure reminded me of a Christmas Story.
On Boxing Day we went to a beach to go snorkelling with some friends.  The drive was interesting and kind of scary.  You can see the road in the distance.
I took this picture without looking because I don't do edges very well.
We made it.
I must be pretty tasty because as soon as I got in the water I got a pretty good zap from a jellyfish.  While we were snorkelling we all got lots of little stings but I'm the only one that reacts to them.
We took an underwater camera with us which we forgot to take when we swam out to the rocks to snorkel. You'll have to take my word for it that there were lots of fish.  Dave went back in the water later but didn't swim out to where the fish were and took this picture.
After taking some underwater pictures we didn't realize the lense was wet so the next few pictures are kind of foggy.
We took a different route on the way home.
I don't know why but I like taking pictures of animals.
See what I mean.
Not sure what this is.
The long and winding road.
The next day we took a walk to the north of the campground and met this fellow.
He really wanted to come with us.
By this time Cleo and I were hurrying ahead.
After a long walk on the beach and running through the waves, this is Cleo's favourite thing to do.
You know your dog is tired when........... On three separate occasions since we've been here Cleo has refused to go for a last walk before bed.  Anyone that owns a young, energetic dog knows that this is unheard of.
This cart sets up on the street corner every night.  We think the sign is funny.
The next day we went south.  It is very rare to see a sidewalk in the Baja unless it's in town.
The next day we took a ride to Miraflores to look for a leather shop we had heard about.
On the way back we went to Palomar in Santiago for lunch.  We thought it was funny that they had the exact same menu they had when we had gone there with Shelley and Darren.
This is the yard at Palomar.
Cleo came with us, as usual.
We are almost back at Los Barriles.
Not sure if this was morning or evening.
Cleo and her friend Zena.
A view of paddle boarders from our beach bar.
The dogs decided to check out the dock.  You can see it's getting cooler.
We took a ride to La Ribera and to see another RV park.
I had to take this picture.  He was very cute.
These ones aren't real.
A very appropriate sign for Mexico.
On New Year's Eve we had friends over for a couple of drinks and then we walked to Smokey's where they had live music and dancing in the street.  It was a lot of fun.  We actually stayed up until 1:30.
They passed out champagne at midnight.
Happy New Year everyone!
The next day was pretty quiet.  We have nothing to report.
During the night on January 1st we got a light rain.  That is the first rain we've seen since the beginning of November.
On New Year's Eve Cleo was scratching at the palm tree in our yard and hurt her paw.  Dave thought she'd been stung by a scorpion but he has a scorpion phobia I think.  He thinks they're everywhere.  They are around because our neighbour has had them in his shoes and a couple in our caravan had one in their storage area.  Anyways back to Cleo.  We couldn't find anything wrong with her paw other than a pinprick.  Our neighbour, who is a nurse, came over and dug in Cleo's paw with a needle until she was able to pull out this thorn.
Cleo immediately felt much better.
On Friday the "band" and their groupies went over to Wolf's house for a jam session.  It was fun.  Wolf has a very cool house with a great view.
We all went out for dinner to an excellent Thai restaurant.
The next day we went to hike up a small mountain.  We didn't get too far because we had to stop every couple of steps to remove burrs from Cleo's paws.  These were not your ordinary burrs.  We couldn't pull them off with our fingers.  Dave had to use his knife.  We finally gave up.
There were a lot of cars on the beach yesterday.
I apologize for all the grammar/spelling errors.  I don't have time to proofread.  This blog writing is exhausting.  Good thing I have a beverage.
