The Oregon Coast

The Oregon coast started out looking a lot like the California coast.
Lots of mountains.
Lots of water.
It does have a lot more rocks.

We arrived at our campground in Gold Beach, Oregon.  It was great!  An actual campground.
This creek behind us emptied and filled with the tide.

I had such a craving for Mexican food we went out for lunch.
A snowman that looks like a cactus??
Our first full day at the campground was all work and no play (except for lunch).  We cleaned, showered, did laundry, grocery shopped, etc.
Our campsite from a distance.
A fisherman giving up for the day.
The next couple of pictures were taken with Dave's phone and the colour setting must be wrong.

Didn't catch much of the sunset.
Morning walk on the beach.

I can be an angel when I want to.
We took off in the morning to check out some hikes.
A beautiful day.
First we went to Thunder Rock Cove.

Wow!

A lot of the pictures were taken by Dave.  I wasn't about to look over the edge to take them.

I can't believe he took this picture straight down over the edge.
There is a little waterfall through the trees.

On our way to our next hike.
This one is Cape Sebastian.
Dave disappearing into the tunnel.

He kept telling me to step back a little farther.

We really enjoyed our time at Gold Beach.  We had bonfires in the evening and we met some new friends from Vancouver Island, Janice & Ron.

The next morning we were on our way to a casino in Florence for some free camping.
Sure glad we weren't going to Brookings, straight ahead.

Scarey.

A nice old truck.
Great highway.
Love the ferns.  Turned out pretty good out the window.
The trains are for Colton.  I think Thomas might be there.

A really long bridge.

I love the sand dunes.

We stopped at an overlook.

We took a short detour off the highway.

It was a scenic detour.
Back on the highway.

Arriving in the pretty little town of Florence.

Pretty nice sunset.
Dave took Cleo for a walk once we were set up at the casino.  Our neighbours were camping with their boxer and their two goats!!

They said that they are just like dogs.  They are so entertaining they don't watch TV anymore, they just watch the goats.  Dave saw them jumping over each other and playing.  Cleo went nuts.  All she wanted to do was go over there to see them.
Our casino campsite.
The sand dunes.
We are on our way to do the Oregon Dunes hike.

You can see people way off in the distance.  That's where we came from.

I really like sand.
The end of a great day.
A propane campfire with friends.
The casino lights.
Time for bed.
