We Love California!

We were treated to admission at The San Diego Zoo compliments of Sherry & George who we met camping in Golden in October.  It is a fantastic zoo.  Besides the animals, the trees & plants are beautiful and really help to keep things cool with all the shade they provide.

And now it's time for some animals.

More foliage.
Hop on, hop off buses.
The view from the bus.

We also went on the sky tram for a bird's eye view.

A pretty cool place for the elephants.
What can I say?

Sherry & George were great tour guides.  They took us to all of the things we wanted to see at the zoo.  There is far too much to see it all in one day.

The largest rodents.  Yuck.

Back on the bus.

Mom & baby orangutan.

Mom & baby gorilla.

It was a great day.  We enjoyed our final sunset in El Cajon.
We left on the morning of February 6th and headed north for Newhall, Ca.
I took this picture for Dave.  He seemed to get a kick out of it.
Sure glad we weren't stuck in the traffic going the other way.
Our destination for the night.  Camping World.

Dave checked out some other RV's on the lot.  This one looks twice as long as ours.
On the road, heading for Angie & Pete's in Solvang, Ca.

We stopped for a lunch break on the side of the road.

It's close quarters in the trailer with the slide in.
We saw lots of pretty scenery, even though it was raining.
Pete & Angie.
Solvang is such a pretty place.

We spent two nights in Pete & Angie's driveway then left for Pismo Beach on Pete's advice.

We took the scenic route.

Wow, was Pete right!  What a great place!  After driving a couple of miles down the beach we could set up camp wherever we liked.

We're pretty happy to be back at the beach!

We did not have a lot of neighbours.

Life is good when there's sand in your sheets.  :o)
Sunrise.

Happy camper.
This beach we are camped at is Oceana Dunes.

These are growing on the sand dunes.

This is at Pismo Beach.

If you can see them, all of the orange spots are butterflies.
Back to Oceana Dunes.
It wasn't even Valentines Day yet.
What a sunset.
Perfect night for a fire.
I bet they have sand in their sheets too.
Time for a walk.
Another great sunset.
Another great fire.
After three wonderful days and nights it was time to say goodbye.

We left there on Thursday, February 12th.  It is the 14th today.  I will continue when we have wifi again.
