Another Beautiful Beach

We had a short drive (in distance) from Loreta to Ciudad Constitucion.  It was a very scenic drive until we got to the construction zone.
Wow!  Was it rough!  We may have a lot of construction zones in Winnipeg but at least we are still driving on pavement.  It took us quite a while to get through.
It is two way traffic.
Here's something you don't see every day.  A semi towing a car with about 6 people in it.
Lots of fun.
We made it through the construction.
We had three stops on route.  One body break, one fuel stop and a big grocery shop.  As I was standing in line to pay for my groceries I had a moment where I wondered it I'd bought a tin of cat food instead of tuna.  I really need to learn more spanish.  I was feeling a little woozy after sniffing all the laundry detergents trying to find one that was unscented.  I had written down a few spanish words on the shopping list.  We are having another pot luck and I wanted to check ingredients looking for a couple of things that some people are unable to have.  Next time I go shopping I will have to take the spanish work for unscented.
When we got to our campsite we went to happy hour hosted by one of the couples.
The campground surface was the usual dirt/sand mixture, however, there were a lot of really prickly little burs all over the ground which were really bothering the dog's feet.  One couple said that they had boots for their dog because they come across prickly things hiking in Arizona.  They went into the trailer and the dog came out like this.
I don't think she was impressed and the other dogs thought it was funny too.
We had an early night and were off to Playa Tecolote in the morning.  We had another scenic drive.
Until the construction.
Then it was back to scenic.
Then back to construction.
Finally we were done with that.
Driving through La Paz.
On our way to the beach.
The colour of the water is unbelievable.
You can take a ferry from La Paz to Mazatlan.  One girl in our group will be doing that.
We have arrived at Playa Tecolote.
Some of the palapas did not survive Hurricane Odile.
I can't stop taking pictures and we're not even out of the truck yet.
Pictures don't do justice to the true water color.
The view out my living room window.
Part of our RV line up.
Time for some fun.
Cleo's view from our carpet.
There goes the ferry.
It turns out that Cleo is a celebrity in Mexico.  We can't walk down the beach with her without being stopped.  Everyone wants to pet her and almost everyone wants their friend to take a picture of them with Cleo.  We hear "bonito perro" (pretty dog) all the time.
The bandage is because she cut her foot on something running down the beach.  It seems OK now.
This is a puffer fish.
Almost our whole group.
Sunset
I didn't take any pictures all day until our potluck dinner which was excellent.
That's all for tonight.  We get to do this all over again tomorrow.  How lucky are we?
We met a couple from France several days ago when we were camping on another beach.  They are travelling with their two young children in a 1964 Volkswagon bus.  They have taken a year off to travel and see the world.  We met them again on this beach.
When we woke up this morning it was very windy and the waves were washing up onto the shore.  There were a couple of camping groups that left yesterday and if they hadn't they would have woke up surrounded by water this morning.
We went for a long walk down the beach first thing in the morning.
After breakfast the water continued to rise.  This is the view out of our door.
Eventually the decision was made to pack up and move out.  We were concerned that we might not get out tomorrow with all of the wet sand.
The wagonmaster said that this was my fault because he had asked me what my favorite beach was so far and I said that I liked the beach where we had camped closer to the water.  I got my wish at this place.  The water came right up to our trailer.
We left a day earlier than planned and headed for Rancho Verde in the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains.
Goodbye beautiful water.
La Paz in the distance.
Cows on the road.
A housing development.
The very pretty little town of El Triunfo where we stopped for a delicious lunch at El Triunfo Cafe.
The cafe's resident dog.
A boutique hotel.
The school.
The door on an art gallery which is no longer open.
The backyard of a B & B.
Some horses with bells on walking down an almost dry creek bed.
Bull on the side of the road.
Arriving at the campground.
Cactus behind our trailer.
We took a vote as to whether we should stay the extra day at Rancho Verde or spend an extra day in Los Cabos.  Los Cabos won so we are on our way there tomorrow.
We are supposed to have wifi here but it barely worked for a minute,  Maybe tomorrow.  I also had a shower in a trickle of water.  That's Mexico.  You just take what you get.
